Glassboard – Wood free since 2013!

Instead of continuing to pursue a fancy design that at times perplexed people, our iPhone developer and UI guy Brent Simmons decided to simplify things. The wood background is gone, and links now appear highlighted and tappable. If you haven’t already downloaded the new version of Glassboard for iPhone (and soon to be on Android), please do so!

For a more technical breakdown of other changes in 2.3.3, here is a post by Brent. I’m not sure what some of it means but he does reference not crossing streams which all nerds can relate to.

Besides being thrilled about the design and performance changes this month in Glassboard, it also worked out where we are being featured in the New & Noteworthy for Social Networking apps in iTunes! This comes only a short time after having the Android app featured in Google Play. 2013 is off to a great start for Glassboard!

Glassboard 2.3: Now with deletion!

Finally! The most asked for feature is now available in Glassboard: you can delete your messages and comments from the mobile apps. If you are a board chair, you can delete messages and comments from others as well.

For any comment or message that you would like to retract, simply long-press and the pop-up menu will give you the option to delete. Its easy.

Nick Bradbury, our Android dev, goes into some background behind our reasoning (including why we didn’t include deletion in the first place.

There are other additions to the app in this version, of course, including performance enhancements, but message/comment deletion is what we’re most excited about!

Some boards have a shelf life of only a week, or maybe just a weekend. After that, we wanted to make it easy for you to share your collection of work with everyone – and now you can. Exporting a board will deliver your entire news feed into a web page that you can share with others, including all pictures and video. It includes every message, photo, video, comment and like for the life of the board so you can relive everything!

Introducing Glassboard 2.0

We just released Glassboard 2.0 for Android and iPhone — and added a web app. We’ve made it easier, faster, better-looking, and available from more places.

Here’s what’s new:

Web App At your desk it’s often easier to go to a web site than to pick up your phone — and not everybody has a smart phone yet. So we built the Glassboard web app.
Reply Via Email Do you have friends still tied to their Blackberrys? Invite them and they’ll be able to join in just by replying to email.
File Sharing Share documents, talk about them, and know that everyone is seeing the same thing at the same time. Just attach a file to your message or comment.
Easier to get people on boards Instead of digging through your address book, you can create an invitation code for your board and share it. When people enter the invitation code in Glassboard they’ll automatically join your board. No approval is necessary — and as the board chair you still control who’s in and who’s out.
New Design The apps now show your board list and other options in a sidebar to the left of the news feed. Just tap the button in the upper left to open it.
Photos and Videos Gallery Glassboard now provides a gallery for recently-posted photos and videos.

There are plenty more changes we haven’t highlighted here, but you’ll see them when you try it out.

Glassboard 1.2 is here!

We’ve just released Glassboard 1.2 into iTunes and the Android Market. Go get it!

Here’s what’s new:

- Invitations: Inviting people to a board couldn’t be easier. Now you can create and send out an invite code that people can use to request an invite (yes, you’ll still maintain control over who joins and who doesn’t). Look for “Invite code” on the invite screen! If you’d like more information on invite codes, visit our Invitations FAQ
- Compose messages in landscape. Yes, finally!
- Compose a message direct from the news feed. Just pick the board you want to send a message to and you’re off.
- Background uploading. You’ll no longer have to wait around while your media uploads, background uploading allows you to continue to use the app while your photos, videos are uploaded.
- Assorted bug fixes and performance enhancements.
