The partnership between Ino Armor and Glassboard began at the early conceptual stage during Academic Tech Transfer from Oxford University and grew into development and production of their silk impact technology. The technology was brought to life through multiple impact protection applications from helmets to protective packaging and beyond. Ino Armor has carved out their place in the market as the go-to for sustainability that doesn't sacrifice performance.

Challenge
Ino Armor was on a mission to turn academic concepts into commercialized products that protect our planet. Glassboard was tasked with converting that science into high-performing protective product offerings. Given the early stage of the company at the start of the program, Glassboard also had to develop a strategic roadmap that prioritized milestones for fundraising along the way to ensure the program could unlock the necessary funds at each stage to meet the next objective.
Solution
We worked closely with Ino Armor to take a 'Stakeholder-Centered Approach' that focused on their mission, their investors' goals, and their customers' needs. In doing so, we built and executed on a strategy for building products with true product-market fit and novel innovations in the competitive category of sustainable material solutions.
Result
Our approach led the launch of multiple product offerings utilizing Ino Armor's novel silk impact technology. Their flagship product, the “Silk Pillow”, was originally designed for the cycling helmet industry and is currently outperforming industry leading EPS cycling helmets in US standard safety tests. Ultimately, we helped create a high performance home-compostable protective solution that is modular and built to adapt to a variety of application across industries from cyclying helmets to wine and spirits packaging, and more coming soon.
