Challenge

Our team was tasked with designing an efficient and robust mechanical system and identifying and executing cost-effective methods of verifying the large-scale design before entering prototyping and manufacturing and field units.

Solution

Glassboard mechanical engineers and analysts generated robust turbine design systems and utilized non-linear finite element analysis (FEA) to verify the design in a cost-effective manner that ultimately provided extremely accurate results when compared with later empirical verification testing on field units.

Result

After a successful early product rollout, Verdant Power became the first company to receive a commercial license for Tidal Power in the United States, and the technology became the first to receive a Power Performance Certification from the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
